The operator under whose name or business name the food is marketed is responsible for the food information and is named with its address on the label; for cosmetics the label names the EU-based responsible person and, for imports, the country of origin.

Mandatory food information must be written in at least one of French, German or Luxembourgish (règlement grand-ducal du 25 août 2015, art. 2), and non-compliant packs may not be sold unless an extra sticker in one of those languages is added; the starred cosmetic particulars (quantity, precautions, function) must likewise be in at least one official language.

Nutrition and health claims follow Reg. 1924/2006, which the same 25 August 2015 grand-ducal regulation implements; ALVA controls them, and a trade mark or brand name that reads as a claim may be used only alongside a compliant claim.
